Saravan Rajmohan is a Vice President and Distinguished Engineer at Microsoft, leading the M365 Research group under M365 Core. An industry-leading expert and visionary leader in AI systems, infrastructure, generative AI, and large language model (LLM) systems, he holds numerous top-tier publications and patents.

Saravan is focused on building world-class generative AI systems that are efficient by design, grounded, trustworthy, private, and most importantly, personalizable and adaptable across domains.

His global team of over 40 researchers—M365 Research—is at the forefront of AI and systems innovation. The group collaborates closely with Microsoft Research and top academic institutions across the world, including leading universities in North America, Europe, and Asia.

The group is organized around three core research pillars:

• AIOps

• Efficient AI

These pillars are designed to drive medium- to long-term impact for Microsoft Copilot, the Office product suite, and the broader Microsoft services and infrastructure. At the heart of this mission is advancing the state of generative AI—making it more scalable, efficient, and adaptable to real-world domains—while supporting Microsoft’s commitment to cloud operational excellence, cross-stack AI efficiency, and domain-specific generative AI solutions.
